Mark graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974, with honors, and from the University of Texas, School of Law in 1977, with honors. He is admitted to practice law in Texas and Colorado. Mark is also admitted to practice in the federal courts for the Western and Southern Districts of Texas, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, the United States Tax Court, and the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the San Antonio and Texas Bar Associations and a life member of the Texas Bar Foundation. Mark also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Association of Bank Counsel and presently serves as a member of the Community Board of Wells Fargo Bank in San Antonio, Texas.
The Federal District Judges appointed Mark as a member of the Civil Justice Reform Act Advisory Group for the United States District Courts for the Western District of Texas, as well as the Magistrate Selection Committee for the Western District of Texas.
Mark is honored to have been selected by his peers as a "Super Lawyer" in Texas Monthly Magazine for 2007 - 2015. This recognition is one arrived at by nomination from other lawyers and bestowed upon only 5% of the attorneys in the State of Texas. He has also been identified by his peers in Scene in S.A. Magazine as one of the "Best Lawyers in San Antonio" every year since the establishment of that honor (2004 - 2015).
Since his graduating from law school, Mark has continuously engaged in the practice of law in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. He practiced as a solo practitioner at the Law Office of S. Mark Murray from 1998-2014 when he joined Ford Murray, PLLC. Mark has tried and/or argued cases at every level of the state and federal court system, save the United States Supreme Court. Approximately 95% or more of Mr. Murray's practice is dedicated to litigation and/or trial practice and appellate practice.
Mark's practice is broad ranging, but is primarily focused in the area of fiduciary litigation, as well as routinely representing parties in litigation against municipalities.
