Bill represents a diverse client base in resolving complex legal disputes through litigation and mediation. Over the past 45 years, his practice has covered a broad range of cases involving business disputes, complex family law, theft of trade secrets, and fiduciary litigation. Bill has served as lead counsel in more than 50 jury trials and a far greater number of significant nonjury proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations. Bill has successfully represented national corporations in federal and state litigation within and outside of Texas, and recently negotiated to resolution two of the largest marital property divisions in the United States.

Bill has received the country and state’s highest recognitions as a trial lawyer, including the following:

  • In 2018, he was inducted as a Fellow into the American College of Trial Lawyers—the most distinguished, honorary, invitation-only trial lawyer organization with a membership that can never be more than 1% of the total lawyer population of any state or province.
  • In 2025, the Texas Bar Foundation selected Bill to receive the 2025 Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award. This award recognizes an active trial lawyer who has demonstrated high ethical and moral standards and has demonstrated exceptional professional conduct, thus enhancing the image of a trial lawyer.
  • In 2008, Bill became an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, which is an invitation-only, national association of experienced trial lawyers and judges who meet rigorous trial experience criteria and have demonstrated high personal character and honorable reputation.
  • In 2009, Bill became a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, which is a peer-selected, invitation-only, aggressively diverse honorary society of less than one-half of one percent of American lawyers who are vetted for their skill, expertise, and service.
  • From 2005 to present, Bill’s peers have selected him as a Thomson Reuters “Super Lawyer” and in many years as a “Top 50: Central/West Texas Super Lawyer.”

While enjoying an active and successful law practice, Bill has always made time to serve his profession and community. Early in his career, Bill was elected the President of the Texas Young Lawyers Association, which is the “public service arm” of the State Bar of Texas. Bill was also elected and served as the mayor and city council member of Hill Country Village. Currently, Bill serves on the board of directors of San Antonio Life Academy, a nonprofit that provides adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to further their personal development goals.
